When I replaced my Windows XP drive w/my my old Windows 95 drive, I was at least able to enter the bios settings.I haven't tried taking out the RAM module yet. That link has quite a few tidbits. To save your files, get a second hard drive.

Tracked the problem to a CA etrust security update. A hard drive that can't read and write information properly certainly can't load an operating system properly.Replace your hard drive if your tests show an issue.
