I've also been attempting to reinstall the nvidia drivers but have been running into severe problems with that as well as random freezing to the system. Anyway Dell is sending me recovery cds and I will try it but I don't expect it to work.
It was just showing the "Shutting Down..." with a blue background throughout the entire time I have waited.
