Anyone anything to add or suggest please? This occurs with any type of file, executable, PDF, whatever. I took the flash drive, plugged it into the problem computer and double-click and each REG file. There was something wrong with my AVG Anti-Virus but I couldn't reload it because of the scanning problem. Reset Default Programs Open the in-built Set Default Programs Associations window and make sure that IE is set as the default program for all the links and similar stuff.
